Roofing ceremony in the central laboratory

The new building of the Consumer Protection Office in Unterentfelden has taken shape. The shell of the timber-concrete hybrid building has been completed and provides the future users with a foretaste of their future working environments. The two-storey building will provide centralised and expanded laboratory capacities for the AVS (Amt für Verbraucherschutz) from summer 2024. At the roofing ceremony in May, there was a general consensus: the shell of the building is impressive. The ceremonial speakers Michael Sauer, project manager of the building owner, the head of the AVS Dr. med. vet. Alda Breitenmoser and architect Markus Schietsch were equally convinced of the success. The joy about the successful execution and the appreciation were also shared by our engineers and constructors who worked on the project planning and realisation of the solid construction.

The planning was carried out with a high demand for an efficient BIM process, in which all project participants were committed. For the floors above ground, timber construction was used as far as possible. This was limited by the high vibration sensitivity of the laboratory use, which required a solid construction. Due to these requirements, the core zone with the central measurement laboratories on the upper floor was constructed in solid concrete just like the basement floor. The laboratory with the highest vibration requirements is in a 13 x 13 x 4.4 m box made of reinforced concrete, arranged between the cores on the upper floor. The box is connected to the four access cores and “floats” above the free, multifunctionally used area on the ground floor.
