Foundation stone for the keystone

18.10.2023, Lucerne-Littau. The laying of the foundation stone for zone A marks the start of the realisation of the final building block of the new 2000-watt Grossmatte West site. The third and final stage of the development, which will provide 171 of the 450 new flats in total, will be realised by 2025. The structural engineers from Lüchinger+Meyer have been involved in the development of the project alongside the architectural office Deon since the competition success in 2018. Naturally, our team of engineers from Lucerne did not miss the chance to get their hands dirty on site after the responsible parties from the client suva and the total contractor p-4 AG had swung their shovels.

The new residential complex consists of three stepped, multi-storey buildings, which are connected by a lower ground floor and basement with main dimensions of 100 x 80 metres. All buildings are realised in concrete construction. Due to the change in load-bearing grid between the residential storeys and the lower ground floor (retail), its ceiling is designed as a prestressed ceiling with spans of up to 12 metres. Deliveries to the retailers are made via a lorry access ramp that crosses the building.
