Look and marvel, discover and experience

What started with the passion of two tech-savvy entrepreneurs for collecting culminates today in the opening of Enter Technikwelt in Derendingen near Solothurn. Switzerland’s largest interactive museum for analogue and digital technology opens its doors. A unique collection of artefacts from national and global technological history awaits visitors on an exhibition area of over 10,000 m2, as well as a wide range of guided tours and workshops. In its new spacious format, the museum is playing a leading role in imparting the knowledge of communication and understanding of technology and will – dare we predict – become a real tourist magnet in Switzerland. Thanks to the attraction of the Spitlight cloud projector and thousands of other extraordinary exhibits.

We are delighted to have been a small part of the Enter success story. As structural planners, we accompanied the creation of the new building from project planning to realisation in proven cooperation with WALDRAP. In consistent correspondence with its technical content, the expression of the building is determined by its skeletal supporting structure – visible structural engineering. The load-bearing structure was realised in solid construction with in-situ concrete flat ceilings and prefabricated columns, façade beams and staircases. The remarkable external concrete ramp, which provides access to the car park deck on the roof, is supported on cross beams spanning between two columns.
