Konolfingen – Foundation stone in the snow

Rings, wreaths and circles are much-used motifs in the run-up to Christmas and the forthcoming end of the year. In this respect, the laying of the foundation stone on Tuesday for the new Stalden Konolfingen school building took place in the snow-covered circular excavation pit under symbolically very harmonious conditions. The attending municipal representatives, teaching staff and schoolchildren, planners and construction companies were united in their joy at the start of the realization of the school landscape. The mayor, Heinz Suter, handed over the foundation stone to the building site with great enthusiasm and then joined other responsible parties in shoveling. The guests also included the structural and façade planners from Lüchinger+Meyer, who are realizing the project together with Ernst Niklaus Fausch Partner.

After objections and an adjustment to the credit limit initially blocked the development of the project following the competition success in 2018, civil engineering work was able to begin in August 2023. Work is now starting on the shell. After the summer vacations in 2025, the Konolfingen schoolchildren and teaching and support staff will move into the new ring-shaped school building for 24 classes with group rooms, a music room, auditorium and daycare.
