“I have used my day to the best of my ability to see and to see again […]”. Goethe’s diary entry will be the motto for Zurich’s city walkers and architecture lovers on Saturday the 26th and Sunday the 27th of September. For the 5th time, Open House Zurich will invite visitors behind the otherwise closed doors of over 100 buildings in the city on the Limmat River. A home game for Lüchinger+Meyer: As in the previous years 2018 and 2019, we are delighted that our projects have been included in the agenda in large numbers, spread across the entire city. An open house warmup was already celebrated on Monday in the Schlotterbeck area. The residential and commercial building now opens its doors again. Those who missed the tour of the Südstrasse housing development in August will have the opportunity to catch up on Saturday.
Of course, the standard destinations Villa Patumbah and SIA high-rise cannot be missing from the programme. We also recommend a visit to the sustainable residential and commercial development Kalkbreite and last but not least the Schütze area. Lüchinger+Meyer’s façade engineers were privileged to participate in the realisation of the new school building in the immediate vicinity of our office.
Due to Corona, Open House Zurich will take place differently than usual and with more distance, with more reservations and with more demands. What remains unchanged, however, is the joy and passion with which urban architecture is presented within the context of guided tours and inspections. Landscape architecture and urban planning have been selected as special highlights of this year’s edition.
