Lüchinger+Meyer is the winner of the Building-Award 2019

The jury president Prof. Sarah M. Springman quoted “Joy prevails” at the beginning of the award ceremony for the Building Award 2019, describing aptly our emotional state in the evening in the Lucerne KKL, because our nominated project Schlotterbeck Areal Zurich was able to assert itself against the four competitors in the building construction category and win the most important engineering prize in Switzerland. Project manager Hans Seelhofer and chief designer Gilbert Andrey received the trophy.
Jury member Stefan Cadosch justified the selection in his subsequent laudation: “The jury appreciates the multi-faceted and extraordinary civil engineering achievements. Thanks to an innovative planning culture, the high demands of preserving an architectural monument and at the same time achieving a qualitative internal densification could be fully and convincingly met.

The early symbiosis between architecture and the art of engineering shows surprising and forward-looking possibilities for how existing buildings can be developed into a model urban development project, even under the most difficult conditions. This is the art of pure civil engineering.”
We congratulate our successful project team and the other award winners of the evening!
For the second time Lüchinger+Meyer can be pleased about the award of the Building-Award, at the last edition 2017 our project Arch_Tec_Lab was awarded.
