October 25th marked a significant day for consumer protection in the Canton of Aargau. With the inauguration of the new AVS building in Unterentfelden, 80 employees now have access to a state-of-the-art laboratory and office facility, providing optimal conditions for the agency’s diverse activities in safeguarding the public responsibly. The opening ceremony was attended by government councillors Jean-Pierre Gallati and Markus Dieth, as well as the head of the agency, Alda Breitenmoser, all of whom expressed their enthusiasm. “The nature-conscious landscaping is just as impressive as the modern and energy-efficient interior design,” they noted. Many other guests, both young and old, had the opportunity to tour the new premises. The team of general planners around Markus Schietsch Architekten / Büro für Bauökonomie, including Lüchinger+Meyer for structural design, were also delighted to see the successfully completed project after two and a half years of construction.
The new building stands out not only for its design, user-friendliness, and modern features but also sets a benchmark in terms of sustainability. The use of timber from state forests, extensive use of recycled concrete, a flexible building structure, and an innovative heating and cooling system utilizing a groundwater pump, alongside a photovoltaic-activated roof, are just a few examples demonstrating the project’s commitment to sustainability. Moreover, the innovative digital planning and construction processes have set new standards. A pioneering project in which we were also able to test and expand our BIM skills in practice.
