Arc Award 2022
With the Arc Award, one of the most important local architectural awards, the Swiss Building Documentation annually honors the best buildings in Switzerland. The award takes into account 11 thematic categories. On November 9, the winners were chosen.
We are very pleased that the “New Building Bahnhofplatz, Altdorf” as the winning project of the category “Work & Production” is one of the awarded buildings. Our congratulations go to Buchner Bründler Architects, who were honored with the prestigious award for the project.

“With great discipline, the finely proportioned, five-story building was developed from a constructive understanding. The frame construction with a girder level at the top shows through the external suspended supports of the front facade.
And even if architects today have to critically rethink their use of materials, this building in its materiality of concrete and industrial-grade aluminum is a visible and proud sign of a specific building culture. The expressive and elegant building connects with all the infrastructure buildings and forms an impressive bridge to the artificial buildings of the freeways, the SBB buildings by Max Vogt and the nearby grain silo by Robert Maillart. Travelers feel the power of history and the force of the mountains while walking by, and know that this is a house that will be here for a very long time.”
