YES2021 – A stage for young engineers

After a one-year pandemic break, IABSE Switzerland is resuming the welcome tradition of offering young engineers a forum to share their professional experiences, present their first project successes and cultivate their network with the YES Symposium on 7 October. Once again, the all-day event takes place at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts. As usual, Lüchinger+Meyer was involved as a sponsor of the event.
Framed by the keynotes of experienced professional colleagues and accompanying specialist seminars, the 15 plenary lectures by young engineers form the heart of the programme. We are pleased that one of our submissions was selected for the stage presentation again this year. In his lecture on the conversion of the Felix Platter Hospital in Basel, Simone Crepaz will present the challenging conversion project in the course of which his development phase from career starter to project manager took place. The complex framework conditions of the existing building and the various construction stages required an innovative way of thinking from the engineering team, in which the existing structure was always understood and respected.

At the same time, we hope that the other submissions from our office presented in a poster exhibition – Messeturm Zürich (Caroline Wirion), Bhf#1 –UKB new building Bahnhofplatz 1 (Heinz Stalder) and WolkenWerk Zurich (Christoph Pfammatter) – will also meet with broad interest among the young audience and encourage a lively exchange.
