Mountain sports are reinventing themselves and ski resorts need to update their facilities to meet the challenges of future multisport development. In this context, the municipality of Leysin has embarked on a major project to renew its infrastructure. The “Wild Goats” project prevailed in a study order procedure (MEP), proposing a complete transformation of the multimodal center: It will accommodate the new public rail and road transport at the valley station of the cable car and chairlifts.
The team, led by RDR architectes and including expert planners from Lüchinger+Meyer, Paysagestion and Citec, convinced the jury with simple and radical proposals: The mobility and use problems will be solved while creating a new urban space that opens up to the city and a new sports area that faces the mountains. We are looking forward to accompany Leysin in its future project and to continue the successful collaboration with the commissioned team.
