The new Huthmacher-house at Bahnhof Zoo

With great enthusiasm the structural- and wind engineers from Lüchinger+Meyer accompanied the development of E2A`s project proposal for the Huthmacher-house in the city centre of Berlin West. The new 95m-high office building will replace the existing building from the post-war period and is to be built on Hardenbergplatz in Berlin-Charlottenburg as part of the ensemble “Bikini Berlin”. In the beginning of November, the plans of the investor “Newport Holding” were presented to responsible politicians and managers (see Tagesspiegel).

An underground parking place for bicyles, a publicly accessible roof terrace and the innovative use of solar and wind energy technology for the buildings self-supply are among the conspicuous features of the buildings design. By the way, the building owes its old and new name to the former “Café Huthmacher” on the first floor, which has been popular for its dance venue.
