Spiral, beetle, butterfly

Also in 2014 numerous competitions gave the opportunity to the “dialogue of designers” with the development of exciting drafts. Several times there was reason to be happy about the joint success.

Dr. Lüchinger+Meyer’s structural and façade planners supported the first-place design by BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group) for a museum of the watch manufacturer Audemars Piguet: a geometrically ingeniously constructed spiral, placed as a dynamic antithesis in the calm landscape of the Vallée de Joux.

The collaboration with Knapkiewicz + Fickert Architects in the Guggach II competition also bore fruit. In the near future, a new residential development will be added to the growing ensemble of buildings at the foot of the Zurich Käferberg.

The urban environment that characterises the Zwicky site in Wallisellen was met ironically by Ramser Schmid architects with a butterfly-shaped skyscraper design that met with applause from the jury. The engineers from L+M developed the approx. 50m high supporting structure of the “Papillon”.
