The Raiffeisen Arena is to the inline hockey players of Kaltbrunn and Gommiswald what the OYM is to the Swiss elite athlete. In the Linth region there is great enthusiasm for the skating team sport. Since its founding in 1995, ihcSF Linth has grown steadily, with 10 teams now competing in Swiss and international leagues and competitions. In order to increase the attractiveness of the venue in Kaltbrunn and to promote club life, an extension was added to the existing hall from 2009, which is available as a multifunctional foyer.
Lüchinger+Meyer was able to support the commissioned office Dario Wohler Architekten in the area of structural design of the concrete and steel structures.
The result is an annex to the hall which, in its sober practicality, blends unagitatedly into the architectural surroundings of the industrial estate, while at the same time enhancing the design of the rather plain hall and giving it a more inviting appearance.
Unfortunately, the expanded hall has often been in “corona sleep” since its completion due to the restrictions on popular sports, but the time will come when the spacious, bright annex will become the venue for ihcSF Linth’s championship and cup victory celebrations.
