The project comprises the conversion and renovation of the existing fabric of the former Rheinau monastery, located on the island of the same name. Some parts of it are over 300 years old. In a first stage, various buildings were converted into the “Rheinau Music Island”, which houses concert halls, rehearsal rooms and guest rooms. The change in use has resulted in new requirements for the existing premises. This requires interventions in the existing structure of the buildings. In order to meet the strict requirements of monument preservation, it was decided to intervene only slightly in the historic building fabric or to restore it as faithfully as possible to the original.
