An innovative composite structure carries the regional cycle path over the “Bergstrasse” road in Meilen. The bridge, which acts as a three-span beam, has a total length of 45 metres. The main structure comprises two trusses made of steel tubes slotted into each other and welded together. The 3-metre-wide and 20-cm-thick concrete slab, which is fixed rigidly at 1.6-metre intervals to the steel trusses via brackets, provides the necessary stability for the bridge. The ends of the bridge are supported on solid concrete abutments.
