The project Dreiklang – Zentrum Steinhausen describes a new building that combines the different uses of living, shopping and meeting. The development consists of two buildings, which are connected underground with a parking garage. The three- to six-story building GS61 houses a supermarket and apartments for the elderly. The library and a multipurpose hall are located in the three- to four-story building GS62.
The structure for both buildings is relatively complex. In a few areas, vertical loads can be transferred directly downward via columns. Vierendeel beams occur several times in the façade or bulkheads and beams inside the building to redirect loads. In the multipurpose hall, long-span (about 20m) prefabricated girders were staggered and fitted with element slabs to avoid forming at large sprout heights. All structures are flat-founded, with partial micropiles to ensure buoyancy safety in the final state.
