Celebrated draw

A project completed in stages – a side effect of the pandemic. The completion of the Stade de la Tuilière was followed by the first league match in front of empty stadiums in November 2020. The stadium underwent its first match with limited public attendance in July on the occasion of an exhibition game as part of the Alps Cup 2021. On Sunday, September 12, 2021, the fans of FC Lausanne-Sport were finally able to enjoy an excellent football match in their new home stadium. The Romand Derby against FC Sion was designated as the stadium’s official inaugural match.

The fact that the game ended in a 1-1 draw and did not result in any significant improvement in LS’s standings did not spoil the celebratory mood. 12’150 spectators* enjoyed the unique atmosphere of the filled football arena for the first time in best weather. The responsible planners from Lüchinger+Meyer, :mlzd and Sollberger Bögli Architekten were also happy to accept the invitation from the city of Lausanne to the “Match d’inauguration” and experienced an atmospheric afternoon of football together in their now ” brought to life” project.
The Stade de la Tuilière is the third major sports infrastructure of the Métamorphose program to be inaugurated, following the neighboring sports center in June 2018 and the Vaudoise Arena at the end of 2019.
