Since 1992, the Institute of Structural Engineering (IBK) at ETH Zurich has organised the “IBK Colloquium” lecture series four times a semester. Selected presentations of remarkable construction projects and technical contributions on structural engineering illustrate the diversity of the field of civil engineering at a high level within the framework of the colloquia. We greatly appreciate this forum for knowledge transfer and are among its regular participants. We have already had the opportunity to actively contribute to the colloquium six times with our own contributions. Next Tuesday Lüchinger+Meyer will take the IBK stage once again. (Due to the pandemic, the broadcast will take place via Zoom-Meeting.) The content of the contribution follows on from our last appearance (2017: Schlotterbeck Areal) and is once again dedicated to a challenging rehabilitation project.
Our Project Leader Dr. Borja Herraiz will explain the conversion of the historic building on Beatenplatz in the centre of Zurich into a hotel in his presentation “Du Pont, Zurich: Conversion of a historic commercial building“. Accompanied by an impressive photo documentation, participants will gain vivid insights into the planning and execution of the innovative strengthening measures of the structure and the complex construction processes that enabled the completion of the project at the end of 2020.
We look forward to welcoming numerous (virtual) visitors!
