With 45 national groups from all 5 continents, the Fédération Internationale du Béton fib is the largest international association dedicated to concrete construction. Outstanding achievements in Swiss concrete construction are presented by the Swiss Group of fib (fib-CH) on the fib congresses, which take place every four years. A special publication is intended to draw the attention of the international experts to the achievements in the Swiss construction sector. As well it informs Swiss construction professionals about outstanding achievements in Swiss concrete construction over the past four years. Detailed and far reaching technical discussions characterize the ambitious input of the publication.
The 5th fib-congress took place in Melbourne, Australia from the 7th to 11th November. The current edition of the series “Concrete Building in Switzerland” has been published on this occasion. As always, the 164-page fib-CH publication includes content of building constructions, bridges, preservation of buildings and research. We are proud that one of our projects, the district heating center Waldau in St. Gallen found place in this exhibition of Swiss concrete constructions. Project manager Hans Seelhofer explains the emergence of extraordinary infrastructure construction from design to implementation in his bilingual paper. With focus on the performance of a civil engineer, the development of the structure and its constructive building are vividly documented.
