The mood in Zurich Seebach yesterday was festive! The bgz Baugenossenschaft Glattal Zürich hosted the topping-out ceremony for the first construction phase of the Buchwiesen development. Designed by BS+EMI Architektenpartner, the total development will comprise 244 new co-operative flats. The structure of the first 116 flats has now been completed, currently filled in by the opaque, timber exterior wall elements.
The yellow of the window frames, a defining element of the development’s colour palette, perfectly matched with the warm early summer afternoon. The large number of guests reflected the enormous scope of the project and the joy of all those who contributed to this achievement. A core team from Lüchinger+Meyer’s structural engineers were also there in a celebratory mood; our façadiers were absent due to holidays.
