Mountain and lake and wine and river – Hiking Day 2021

Nineteen months had passed since the Ski Day 2020, the last joint office event before the pandemic temporarily put an halt to all collegial sociability. The excitement at all three locations was therefore correspondingly great for this year’s Hiking Day on 3 September, for which an entertaining programme had been put together. Expectations were not disappointed – the L+M team experienced an excursion day like no other.
The choice of the hiking destination Chasseral in the Jura border area of the language regions was based on an important development of the last year. For the first time, the employees of our young Lausanne branch also joined the hiking community.

In bright late summer weather, we started in Le Grillon and took the beautifully landscaped and panoramic climb to the highest peak in the Bernese Jura under our boots. A coach then took us to La Neuveville on Lake Biel, from where we crossed by boat to Ligerz. In the “Hof” vineyard museum there, host Rolf Teutsch and his team provided an episodic and entertaining insight into the craft of winegrowing, the etiquette of wine drinking and the historical affairs at the “Röstigraben”. Of course, a wine tasting accompanied the subsequent aperitif.
A touch of Italianita later wafted over the terrace of “Il Grano” in Büren an der Aare, where our excursion came to an enjoyable end.
