Farewell to the SIA Board and honorary membership

We warmly congratulate Daniel Meyer on his honorary membership of the Swiss Society of Engineers and Architects (SIA) and are proud that both founders of Lüchinger+Meyer can now be found in the prestigious list of honorary members of our professional association. The honour was bestowed on Daniel Meyer at yesterday’s SIA delegates’ meeting in Lausanne. It was accompanied by his retirement from the SIA board. Daniel Meyer had been involved in this body since 2009 and had served as its vice-president since 2013. During this thirteen-year period, he was a persistent promoter of interdisciplinarity, for example as chairman of the SIA’s International Council, as a member of the jury and advisory board for the “Umsicht – Regards – Sguardi” award, and as a member of the board of directors of Espazium. We are particularly pleased that the SIA delegates yesterday gave the green light to the revised SIA 144 “Rules for the selection of planners”. A symbolic farewell gift for Daniel Meyer, who has been responsible for its revision process since 2021.

We have always greatly appreciated our partner’s commitment to the SIA, regardless of the fact that the abundance of tasks also meant that his office presence was sometimes limited. The proximity he gained to the association and its current topics ranging from internationality to procurement law, building culture, sustainability and interdisciplinarity compensated for this deficit in many respects and made an inspiring contribution to our office development. At the same time, Daniel Meyer’s active work in the everyday life of the engineering office ensured the necessary practical proximity to be able to lend a strong voice to the relevant concerns of civil engineers in the work of the board.
