Constructing the future

The Swiss Embassy building in New Delhi, India, designed by architect Hans Hofmann, celebrates its 50th birthday. On this occasion, the Embassy is organising a “Year of Swiss Architecture, Design and Engineering in India 2013-14”. In a series of events from September 2013 to April 2014, Swiss-Indian cooperation in these fields will be honoured, strengthened and expanded. One of the kick-off events was the symposium “Constructing the future”, in which renowned representatives from both countries addressed the various aspects of the complex of topics in lectures and discussions.

Daniel Meyer from Dr. Lüchinger+Meyer Bauingenieure AG also accepted the invitation of the Swiss Ambassador Dr. Linus von Castelmur. He gave a lecture on “The challenge of an interdisciplinary structural design”. In a panel discussion with the Indian engineer Mahendra Raj, he also discussed the cooperation between engineer and architect, the influence of digital tools on the design process and the position of engineers in society.
