The last fences at the station in St. Gallen have disappeared. The new arrival hall – the core of the redesign of the railway station and station square St. Gallen – is completed. “Akari” was the name of the successfull competition design, created by giuliani.hönger.architekten. The Japanese term stands for brightness, light and weightlessness and is finding its architectural expression now skilfully in the lantern-shaped arrival hall. Flooded with light during the day, the interior of the hall offers pleasant waiting areas. At night, the cube lights up and forms a point of reference.
