JCSS Workshop

On 28 and 29 January, the Joint Committee on Structural Safety (JCSS) is hosting an international workshop on “Assessment of Existing Structures“. The event, held virtually via ZOOM, organised by Trinity College Dublin, will bring together leading researchers and practitioners to discuss issues related to the assessment and maintenance of existing structures. Topics will include testing and monitoring methods and data, the development of relevant standards and the presentation of best practice. (Program)

The opening speaker for Session III on the topic of “Codification” on the afternoon of 28 January will be Dr. Paul Lüchinger, who will report on his rich experience in the development of Swiss and European preservation standards in his presentation “Standardisation for Assessment of Existing Structures – The European Approach”.
The timing of the workshop is very appropriate given the current activity to develop a Eurocode part on the basis of assessment and retrofitting of existing structures. More than 220 participants and interested parties have already registered for the workshop.
