Kick-off in Lausanne

The goal has been achieved. 29 November 2020 will go down in the annals of the FC Lausanne-Sport football club as well as in those of our office. At 4 p.m., the ball will roll over the grass of the new Stade de la Tuilière for the first time at an official league match: the host and newcomer will compete with the Bernese Young Boys, the current leaders of the Swiss Super League.
With one laughing and one crying eye we follow the special event of the stadium opening. The laughing eye rejoices at the crowning achievement of our project, the crying eye regrets the empty spectator stands. Unfortunately, Lausanne-Sport will only be able to face its first opponent with the virtual support of its fans due to the pandemic. So the atmospheric acid test is still to come.

For Lüchinger+Meyer a long journey is now coming to an end. We were connected in an extraordinarily diverse way to the ambitious Lausanne stadium project, whose trademark – the unfolded corners – have long since become the eye-catcher of motorists and passers-by in the surrounding area. For six years, our structural engineers accompanied the architecture partners :mlzd and Sollberger Bögli in a fruitful and constructive cooperation from the successful competition to the completion of the construction work. We also took part in the ground-breaking ceremony and topping-out ceremony, proudly presented the challenging project to an interested audience and went to the Lausanne construction site with the entire office team.

With a powerful “Allez Lausanne allez oh…”, we wish FC Lausanne-Sport, its fans and guests much pleasure in their new sporting home.
