Thun votes for administrative enlargement
With a convincing “yes”, the people of Thun have approved the loan for the extension of the administration building on Industriestrasse. With this building project, the city is reacting to the continuing growth of the town and the resulting increase in administrative costs. The expansion of the location on Industriestrasse had proved to be a viable solution for providing the urgently needed additional space. The four-storey building will provide approximately 1,000 square metres of office space with an open-plan structure, training and meeting rooms and a cafeteria.
The building is also sustainable in terms of ecological aspects. Plans include certification in accordance with Minergie P ECO, the use of renewable energies for heating and cooling, and the installation of photovoltaic elements on the roof.
The project is based on the competition success of :mlzd Architekten in cooperation with the structural designers and façade engineers of Lüchinger+Meyer, but was revised during the planning phase and adapted to the updated usage requirements. We are pleased about the large approval of the voters for the realisation of the building!
