Le Brassus is worth a visit – Opening of the Musée Atelier Audemars Piguet
With the today’s opening of the Musée Atelier Audemars Piguet in the Vallée de Joux, the Jura has been enriched by a tourist and architectural attraction. The event was preceded by a remarkable wave of media announcements that went far beyond the local area. Numerous reports and features from RTS to The New York Times were published about the extraordinary building and aroused anticipation of the opening, which was delayed due to corona.
From today, the Musée Atelier will enable visitors to retrace the Manufacture’s almost 150-year history, discover 300 masterpieces of Haute Horlogerie, look over the shoulders of watchmakers at work and – last but not least – marvel at the architecture and movement of the glass spiral. If you would like to be inspired before your visit, you will find plenty of opportunities to do so on the museum’s website. A 360°-view invites you to take a virtual walk, while the architecture, the construction and the museum concept designed by the scenography studio Brückner are presented on separate pages.
For our façade and construction engineers, the project circle is now closing. Since 2015, we have been allowed to accompany the project planning and execution of the building, which is anything but an everyday occurrence for us – planning, researching, testing and inspecting.
We would like to thank the client and our project partners BIG Bjarke Ingels Group, CCHE Lausanne and Frener & Reifer for the intensive and constructive cooperation on this challenging project. We are very pleased with the positive résumé of our client, who praised the Musée Atelier as “a masterpiece of engineering technology and design”.
