Engineer – positions on the professional profile

On the evening of October 30th, the SIA section Zurich and the usic regional group Zurich invite to an interesting panel discussion in the cigarettenfabrik Zurich. Under the heading “Engineering profession – competencies, requirements today and tomorrow”, current positions on the job profile will be exchanged and the role of engineers in a changing planning and fee culture and society will be discussed. We appreciate this public debate on the engineering profession as an important input for the ongoing evaluation and classification of our everyday activities.
How can the engineer as a rather “silent service provider” present his manifold competencies in a better way? Are the future challenges adequately considered in today’s engineering education?

This and more questions will be addressed by a round of discussants, which has been composed according to the topic. Prof. Thomas Vogel and the ETH student of civil engineering Roman Salzmann can introduce their experiences from the university environment into the discussion, while Dr. Martin Deuring and Sora Padrutt will provide impressions and insights from their practical engineering work.
We are particularly pleased about the involvement of our former trainee and working student Roman Salzmann. The panel discussion is also his last appearance as a student. In a few days he will strengthen our civil engineering team in Zurich.
