TU1406 – Final Conference 2019

Dr. Paul Lüchinger has been actively involved in the creation of standards in Europe and Switzerland for decades. From 2009 to 2018 he has been the chairman of the working Group CEN/TC 250/WG2, which worked out the technical specification of monitoring existing support structures, in the context of the formulation of “Structural Eurocodes”.
He was happy to follow the invitation of the European Science Foundation COST for the Final Conference 2019 of the TU1406 project, which took place on 25th and 26th of March in Guimarães, Portugal.

By involving research and communities of Practice, the TU1406 aims to develop a standardized guideline of monitoring procedures for testing road bridges in Europe. Under the heading “What can we get from COST Actions?,” keynote Speaker Dr. Paul Lüchinger gave insights into the activities of the CEN/TC 250/WG2 working group and underlined the benefits of an European standardization – from the review to assessment of existing support structures over to the benefits of an Europe-wide exchange among experts.
