200 metres of living – Quartier Plaisance in Yverdon-les-Bains

Accompanied by particularly difficult geological conditions, a new four-storey residential building 200 metres long will soon be built in the Plaisance district of Yverdon-les-bains, meeting the challenges of the proclaimed sustainable urban development. Our team, led by the Lausanne-based architectural company RDR Architectes, was the winner of the study commission.

The combination of a concrete base and a light wooden structure convinced the jury above all because of the use of materials and the advantages of these two building materials, which are combined in a rational project that tends towards the obvious. The timber construction of the residential floors above ground generates a cosy atmosphere. The concrete structures of the basement floors prove their static efficiency. The building, which fits perfectly into its urban context, adopts an architectural language which is commonly used in the Plaisance district. Our Lausanne structural engineering team is very pleased with this success and looks forward to the project start soon.
